Agenda del evento

“Worker with ADHD awarded £200k after being made to work in former cupboard.”

That was the headline.

And it understandably attracted a huge amount of attention across the HR and employment law press.

But a headline doesn't tell you what a tribunal actually considered.

Elissa Thursfield will take Ghiotto v Hawkwell House Hotel Ltd apart and go beyond the headline to examine what happened inside the workplace - and where the employer's approach created risk.

We'll explore:

  • The circumstances surrounding the employee's ADHD
  • What happened when their working environment changed
  • The issues around reasonable adjustments
  • How the employer responded to the employee's concerns
  • What the tribunal considered when reaching its findings
  • Where the employer's approach went wrong
  • The practical lessons for employers managing employees with disabilities
  • What businesses should consider when a workplace adjustment is requested

The bigger question is:

What should an employer actually do when an employee raises concerns connected to a disability - and how should those concerns be handled?

We'll strip away the headline, examine the judgement and turn a complex tribunal decision into practical learning that HR teams, managers and business owners can actually use.

ADHD claims are becoming an increasingly important risk for employers

With more employees raising concerns around ADHD, neurodiversity and reasonable adjustments, employers need to be prepared for the risks that can arise when those issues aren't handled properly.

That's why having the right support in place matters. HRoes' Unified Offering brings employment software, legal advice, CPD-accredited training and up to £250,000 of insurance-backed tribunal protection together in one complete employment solution.

So you can better prevent, manage and protect against employment risk - before an issue becomes a tribunal claim. Book an intro call here!
